A significant workshop in the history of American printmaking, the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop was established in 1948 by Robert Blackburn, a legendary figure in the history of printmaking. It became a remarkable educational center with outreach throughout the community fostering emerging talent in the arts and involving many in the process of printmaking. Today, the workshop is undergoing a revival of its historical dedication to the relationship of the arts and the community as well as to the art of printmaking itself. This internship position is available to an art major or a student with some experience and interest in printmaking to work under the supervision of master printer Phil Sanders.
Advanced Project Description for 2012
This ten-week program offers hand-on training in many aspects of a professional print studio. The intern is involved with platemaking, assisting the master printer and the artists-in-residence, editioning, assisting in the archives, educational programming and performing various other print related tasks depending upon experience.
Desired Qualifications
Strong printmaking portfolio, art background helpful. The ideal intern is motivated, creative, inquisitive, and detail oriented.
No language requirement.

Social Accountability International (SAI) is a 15 year old international multi stakeholder organization focusing on several major issue areas: business and human rights; monitoring of labor standards in workplaces; capacity building for people and organizations in all parts of the supply chain and elimination of sweatshops.
Internship Description for 2012
Projects will be selected based on students’ interests and the changing needs of the organization. The position requires a person interested in how businesses implement standards for respecting labor rights, provide an enabling environment for workers to exercise those rights, and addressing overall workplace issues. Activities typically include:
• provide research and management support for programs in China, India, Latin America, and elsewhere, and development of potential new programs.
• assist with the monthly newsletter, contributing profiles of SA8000® certified facilities or other material collect and organize data for country diagnostics on labor issues and on country labor legislation
• research and analyze legislation relevant to international labor standards implementation.
• perform case studies and cost/benefit analyses relating to implementation of SA8000, working hours, living wage, other aspects of humane business practices, and possibly anti-bribery systems
• maintain office systems and management and organize new systems
• manage incoming information requests and database tracking system
• identify and research potential sources of grants for SAI and assist in preparation of proposals and progress reports
Desired Qualifications
SAI seeks highly motivated interns interested in human rights, social dialogue and sustainability issues in general. Economics coursework preferred, good writing skills required. The ideal intern is a self-starter who is open minded, detail oriented, organized, and flexible.
No language requirement, but fluency in Chinese (written and spoken) is a plus.
